It is well documented that some species of insects. including tarantulas and praying mantids, are amongst the many facing threat from illegal removal from the natural habitat where they play a vital role in the ecosystem. Whilst there are thousands of individuals nationally who enjoy and celebrate their uniqueness, with the popularity of insects as pets only on the rise, it has become more important now more than ever to ensure that the new additions to the family are ethically sourced and responsibly owned.

There are many businesses within Australia that sell and breed Insects and arachnids, however there are few that do so with the appropriate permits, procedures, and care to ensure that there is no negative impact to the wild community of insects and these little creatures arrive in the best health possible.

Australia’s biggest online bug store is Bug Frenzy, located in South Australia, they are renowned for sustainable and responsible breeding, with a wide collection of insects for public purchase. Another is Mini Beast, located in Queensland, they also stock a vast range of insects and educational resources to hobbyists and schools.

Purchasing from an ethical business is the first step, the second is caring. Each of the business above have educational material on how to care for the little critters, their needs, and how to keep them happy.
